Christmas Celebrates Jesus

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.

And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the City of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign for you; you will find a baby wrapped in cloths lying in a manger.”

And suddenly, there appeared with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God….”

Luke 2:9-14

 

The Baby In Bethleham

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;

And the government will rest on His shoulders;

And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

This May Be the Case More Than Ever This Year

I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. 

John 10:11 

At Christmas churches are filled with people who only come to church for Christmas and sometimes the regular attenders get a little bent out of shape because they may crowd them out of their regular seats.

And, Pastors sometimes make snide remarks about being glad to see all the visitors and that they will see them again at Easter.

All these Christmas people are a good thing.  It is a great opportunity for them to hear the Gospel and for us to extend the hand of Christian fellowship to them.  

Jesus is the Good Shepherd and He gave up His life for us.  The least we can do is willing give up our seats for His sheep.

So, get ready to celebrate Christmas with everyone who comes to worship the new born King. 

Celebrate The Season

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When Our Faith Is Shaken, God Is Faithful

Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal, but the word of God is not imprisoned.

For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

It is a trustworthy statement:

For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; 

If we endure, we will also reign with Him;

If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

2 Timothy 2:7-13

 

A Baby? Really

Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14

When we think about wielding power, we don't think about a baby.  Yet, God, who had all the armies at his call, chose to send His Son as a baby.  And, that Baby turned the world upside down.  The power of God, is not to be underestimated.
