Therefore,
to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
James
4:17
What
do we do when we get new information which contradicts what we believe to be
true? How do we reconcile our actions to
this new information?
For
many people this is difficult because the nature of sin is to trap
its victims in situations which are difficult to escape. We are not going to talk about little sins
verses big sins, all sin is sin. And,
for the most part, even if we do not admit it, we have some guilt about our
sin.
I
think James says it all. We are to stop
doing what we now know to be sin and start doing that which is right and
pleasing to God.
And,
what becomes of our sin? If we confess
it, then Jesus will forgive it. We are
assured of this by 1 John1:9 which states “If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.”
Know
the right thing and do it.
