Jesus
was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and
proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and
every kind of sickness.
Seeing
the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and
dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
They
He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to
send out workers into this harvest.”
Matthew
9:35-38
When I read this, I think about all the people who are distressed and dispirited that I see everyday. Many of these people I do not know, but I know this, taking a moment to be kind and say "hello" can make them smile.
So often we are so busy chasing the details of our lives that we forget to do small kindnesses.
Be like Jesus, stop and take a minute to encourage a stranger.
