Not What You Expected, Still Good

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.  What is your life?  For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

James  4:13

Our five year old granddaughter was promoted from the tots’ class to the big kid’s class at church.  She was excited because she was finally old enough to go down the tube slide to the big kids’ area in the basement.  The top of the slide is surrounded by a ball pit and our granddaughter was happy as she climbed into the tube and slid to the basement.

After church I asked her, “How did you like the slide?”

She said, “It was fun.  I thought that there was a ball pit at the bottom, but it went to the basement.  And, there are air hockey tables down there.”

That is the way life is, we expect one thing and we get another.  We can relax and be flexible, because God is in charge and even if we don’t land in a ball pit, we will still be in a good place.
