Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:19-21
This is totally contrary to the way we humans think about people who mistreat us. We want revenge.
But that is not what Christians are to do. We are to take a step back and wait and find an opportunity to do something for them. In showing kindness we show the love of God to people who need to see it and feel it.
Kindness costs us nothing and does much to further the Gospel.
