Let the Peace of Christ Rule In Your Hearts

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Whatever you do in word of deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:15-17

We Don't Have To Carry It

Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

Psalm 55:22

I am sometimes so burdened by things that are happening, or that I think will happen, that I can’t eat or sleep.  It is like there is a stranglehold on my mind and body.

Then I remember that God cares about me and He cares about what I care about.  He understands my frustration.  I pray and give it all to God.

When we are burdened, we don’t have to carry it because God will do it for us.  Have faith.

Build Up

Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves.  Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.

Romans 15:1-2

Not all Christians are on equal footing in dealing with difficulties they face.  While one may seem to be scarcely be fazed by a diagnosis of a life threatening disease, another might fall apart when faced with a broken tooth.

It is not that the latter is especially weak; it is that we all have different strengths.  This being said, we need to show some consideration to those who are struggling, whether the struggle is over something we view as a small matter or a great matter.

We are to bear with each other, and strive to help each other in the best of times and in the worst of times, and at all times.

For although we are strong today, tomorrow we might be the one who is weak, and who needs someone to encourage us; and those who we edify today, may be the ones who God sends to minister to us.

Who Do You Belong To?

... And you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

1 Corinthians 3:23

We say we belong to the Methodist or Lutheran or Baptist or Catholic Church but where we belong does not matter.  What matters is that we belong to Christ.

We belong to Christ if we confess that we are sinners and ask Jesus to forgive us and be our Lord, Master and Savior.

Belonging to a church is good, but belonging to Christ is more important.  Ask Jesus to be your Savior today.

Called To Run

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us….

Hebrews 12:1

Everybody has got something or someone that seems to create all kinds of havoc in life.  Maybe it’s a car which breaks down or a boss who gets on our case for every little thing, even if it’s not our little thing, or maybe it’s our own bent to procrastinate or seek perfection.

Whatever or whoever it is, we are called to get over it and get on with life.  Once we solve the problems we can solve and work around the ones that we can’t, we are free to get busy with what God wants us to do.

We are not called to slink along like slugs, we are called to run.  Get going.

Labor Day

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

Today, in the United States we celebrate Labor Day; a holiday established in 1894 to honor the achievements of American workers.

And, that includes those who work for God.

Keep up the good work.
