Hope for the Lost

Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:6-7

Many of us struggle with friends and family who are not Christians and who do not live lives in accordance with the laws of man or God.  To say this is painful for us is almost an understatement.  It is difficult to watch people we care about destroy their lives and the lives of those around them.

While we may be inclined to back away from these people, God does not back away.  He is waiting for them.  God is compassionate and He wants to forgive them.

And, this gives us hope for those we love and care about – God’s mercy is for them.  All they have to do is ask.  So, when you think there is no hope for a person, remember God will abundantly pardon, and take comfort in this.

We Have Grace

For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

What then?  Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?  May it never be!

Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Nothing Hidden

“Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light.  For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.”

It's Super Bowl Sunday

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Today in the United States, people will gather together to watch the Super Bowl, the last and biggest football game of the season.  It does not matter who is playing or where they are playing because the event is about the event.

Being innovative, some churches have jumped on board with the celebrating and have Super Bowl events to raise awareness and cash for various ministries of the Church.  My favorite is the “Souper Bowl” lunch where soup and sandwiches are served for a donation and the proceeds go to programs which provide food for hungry people around town and around the world.

God is the great innovator and He inspires and motivates man to use secular events to celebrate His power and glory through ministry.

Have a super Sunday.
