“For
momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far
beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at
the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but
the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.
Trials
and tribulations wear us out. Our car
breaks down and the mechanic can’t figure out what is wrong. Our always well behaved kid suddenly gets
into all kinds of mischief at school. The
landlord announces that we have to move because he has a relative who needs a
house, and the landlord is our brother. Big
or small all trials give us pause.
Before
we jump off the deep end in anger and frustration we need to consider what Paul
said. That is, that in the big picture,
none of this will matter. Ask will this
matter next week or next year? Our goal is not this moment, but eternity.
Have
faith.
