For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.
2 John 1:7-8
At the time of the Apostles, and still today, there are people who misrepresent the Gospel. They say things like: “Jesus was a prophet,” or “Jesus was a good man,” or “Jesus was a great teacher.” They do not acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God. Some bend and corrupt the Bible's teachings to reflect their own ideas. They try to disguise their departure from the truth by projecting an air of authority. Sometimes they are lone wolves, who do not affiliate or associate with mainline Christian churches, and sometimes they are part of church like organizations.
Most pastors are not frauds, but we must be diligent in examining the teachings of all pastors, evangelists and religious leaders who come in the name of Christ, by measuring what they say and do against the Bible.
If the teachings do not measure up to the Word of God, then we need to run away, lest we be corrupted by lies.
Be on guard.
