Start Reading, Start Loving Others

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:8-9

Where should a new Christian start reading in the Bible?

The Book of John is good because it tells the whole Gospel story and it speaks of the love of God.

But if a person has spent time in the church previously, without connecting with the Gospel, 1 John might be a better choice.  1 John helps us realize that being a Christian is not about being holier than thou, but recognizing that we all are sinners and we are all saved by grace.

Recognizing that we are sinners allows us to minister to others without passing judgment, and with the truth of the Gospel that God loves us all.
