As
Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest
came, and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also
were with Jesus the Nazarene.”
But
he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking
about.” And he went out onto the porch,
and the rooster crowed.
Mark
14:66-68
If
you have fallen from grace and think you are too much of a mess for God to
reclaim, think again.
The
Apostle Peter, who was called by Jesus and who walked with Him, denied even
knowing Jesus. We could say that Peter
feared more for his own life than he loved and trusted Jesus.
But
God did not turn His back on Peter. When
Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the mother of James and Salome, went to Jesus’ tomb
and found it empty, God’s angel gave them a message, “… go, tell His disciples
and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee, there you will see Him, just
as He told you…’” (Mark 16:7)
God’s
angel specifically named Peter as a recipient of the message of the good news
of the resurrection of Jesus and that Jesus was coming to see Peter and the
other disciples. Peter went on to become
a great evangelist who took the Good News of salvation through Jesus to the
world.
It
does not matter how far you think you are from God, God is looking for
you. Come back to Him, and be
redeemed. God is not done with you.
