I
even, I am the one who wipes out your transgressions for my own sake, and I
will not remember your sins.
Isaiah
43:25
How
are you at forgiving? I like to say I am
good at it. Cross me and say “I am
sorry,” and I will say. “That’s OK.”
Well,
I say it is OK, but sometimes I am not OK.
I sometimes carry around grudge for a long time, and that is not OK
because it interferes with my relationships with others. It might even keep me up at night or make my
stomach ache to think of that which I refuse to let go of with total
forgiveness.
Now,
God, when He says we are forgiven, He forgives and He forgets our sins. Not only are we forgiven, but we have nothing
left to feel guilty about. That is total
forgiveness.
And,
why does God do this? He says it is “for
His own sake.” Perhaps we can take a
lesson from this, and do a better job of forgiving and forgetting for our own
sake. That which we forgive and forget,
no longer has a hold over us.
Give
forgiveness even where it is not merited and get on with life.
