“…
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” James 5:16
Many
years ago friends of mine were in dire financial shape. The husband had an industrial injury and
was off work for months, leaving the family without income because the company
he worked for fought his claim for disability pay. They struggled to pay the monthly
bills.
Their
monthly house payment was $400.00, which at the time was a lot of money, but
every month they somehow came up with the cash to make the payment. The couple credited God’s blessing on them
that they were able to do this. One
month, they had no idea where they would get the money to make the house
payment. Then out of the blue the wife’s
parents, who had never given them a dime, sent a check for
$300.00. My friend said she prayed and
thanked God for the money, and added that it was not quite enough to make the
payment.
The
next day in the mail she received letter from Publisher’s Clearing House
Sweepstakes stating that she was a winner; enclosed was a check for $100.00.
A
few months later, the husband returned to work and of course, shortly
thereafter, a check came for the lump sum amount of the disability payments he
had been denied.
That
is the way it is with God. When we pray
and we do not see any way that a problem can be resolved, God has already got
it covered. He is just waiting for us to
ask.
Prayer
can accomplish much.
