“Let
no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good
for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace
to those who hear.”
Ephesians 4:29
Ephesians 4:29
It
is hard to keep our mouths shut when someone is bad mouthing someone we don’t
like. It’s easy to chime in with our
complaints about an adversary’s crimes against humanity – meaning us. It is also easy to gripe about all the things
that are going wrong in our lives. When
we air the dirty laundry, people get an earful of negativity, which does not serve
to further the cause of Christ.
We
need to work on using our mouths to build up the kingdom of God and to engage
our brains before we speak and aim to edify humanity with a wholesome
commentary.
