“Even
so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ
Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in
your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the
members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves
to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of
righteousness to God.”
Romans
6:11-13
When
we accept Jesus as Lord, Master and Savior, we become new people in
Christ. We are no longer bound by sin,
but we are free to live righteous lives.
If
we have difficulty breaking away from addictive behaviors, we can seek
help. There are groups which can help
us. Alcoholics Anonymous or similar
programs offer support to those who are recovering from addictions.
We
can trust God that when He calls us and we come to Him, He will not leave
us alone in our struggles against sin.
