“Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of
the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
1
Corinthians 15:58
Every
now and then we get into a slump. We get
tired of working. We want to play golf
or go to the pool with the kids. We can call
off work or even quit our jobs. The downside
is that our pay check will be smaller or disappear. Our short term fix can turn into a long term
financial problem.
It
can be the same way when we serve the Lord.
We may grow tired of working to build the kingdom when we don’t see
immediate results. Or, we may face
critics who don’t understand what we are doing or don’t like how we are doing
what we do. Some Christians give up and
quit. They quit church, quit speaking
out and flirt with spiritual bankruptcy.
Ignore
the critics and work toward the long term goal – to tell the world about
Jesus. Be steadfast, be immovable and
work for the Lord. The payday is huge.
