“Do
not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained
angels without knowing it. Remember the
prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since
you yourselves also are in the body.”
Hebrews
13:2-3
It
bothers me when I hear people describe other people as trash. Most of the time these people are measuring
others by the yard stick of themselves in whom they take great pride. The problem is that they too are still “in
the body” and they may meet a similar fate as those whom they judge to be
trash.
If
you are one of these people, then you need to examine your attitude. One of the things that set Christians apart
from non-believers is that we go out of our way to be kind to those who are unfortunate
or unattractive or unwashed or undesirable or in trouble.
Those
who we view as the least among us need most to be treated with dignity. We cannot take Jesus to the world without
reaching out to all people.
