God Is My Stronghold

But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength;

Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your loving-kindness in the morning,

For you have been my stronghold

And a refuge in the day of my distress.

O my strength, I will sing praises to You;

For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me loving-kindness.

Psalm 59:16-17

I have been going through some tough times for about ten years.  I will not say that this has never resulted in my indulging in a pity party, but I will say that overall I have been better than OK.  God has blessed me with the ability to be inappropriately funny when things get terrible.  Laughter takes the edge off.  One friend said she did not see how I could stand it, let alone laugh.    

My answer was that I know God is on my side and that no matter what happens eventually everything will be OK.

C S Lewis said, “We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be.”

Thanks to God’s loving-kindness it may be painful, but in the end it will be wonderful.
