Think On These Things

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Philippians 4:8

Self-talk can do a lot of damage or it can do a lot of good.  What we say to ourselves about things that are happening can cause us to act badly or can cause us to do what is right.

We need to stop beating ourselves up because things go wrong or because we made a mistake.  Just because there is not a fairy tale ending is no reason for us to act like the world has ended.

Rather than listening to the voices in our head that tell us we messed up, we need to do as Paul said to do.  We need to think about those things which are right and good.  And, one of the things that is always right and good is that God loves us.  No matter what happens God loves us.

So, when that voice in your head is talking at you for your shortcomings, talk back by praising God for loving you and trust Him to make things right.
