Look For The Door

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond that what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Temptation comes all dressed up in its Sunday suit.  It dangles promises of good fortune.  But temptation is a liar because what it does not say is that, when we compromise what we know to be the right thing to do, we end up with a broken heart and a broken spirit.  The consequences of un-resisted temptation can be crushing. 

When we are tempted to do that which we know is wrong but which at the moment looks attractive or to be the only thing we can do, we need to remember that God is with us and will give us the strength to overcome the temptation.  And, what’s more God promises to provide a means of escape for us. 

When tempted, look for the door.
