Therefore,
prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix all your hope
completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus
Christ.
As
obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in
your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also
in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be Holy, for I am Holy.”
1
Peter 1:14-1
Being holy is not about fitting in; it’s about standing
out from the crowd.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord, Master and Savior we are
called to be holy; that is, to turn away from our former sinful lives and to
live lives which reflect the love and goodness of God.
This is not so say that we will not face controversy because
being holy is controversial. When we act
in a manner which promotes the welfare of all mankind or when we challenge
injustices, we are doing so because that is what Jesus would do and not what
the masses would do. We may be called
names and we may be ridiculed, but we will be doing what is right and that is
what being holy is all about.
Standout from the crowd.
