“And
He sat down opposing the treasury, and began observing how the people were
putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large
sums; a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amounted to a
cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said
to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the
contributors, to the treasury; for they all put in out of their surplus, but
she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44
We
sometimes think that we don’t have much to give compared to wealthy people who
give millions of dollars away to their favorite causes. But Jesus doesn’t see giving as being
millions of dollars, He sees giving as all of us giving something to make the
world a better place. There is as much
honor in making a pillow case dress for a little girl in Haiti as there is in
building a million dollar sports arena for a college.
If
you think you can’t give enough to make a difference, think again.
