“Do
not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do
it.” Proverbs 3:27
Have
you ever been in a situation when you really wanted to compliment someone for
their actions, and didn’t do it? I have
and afterwards I knew I missed an opportunity to share the love which God has
given to me.
We
need to be sensitive to opportunities where we can provide an encouraging word
or a pat on the back to someone who maybe does not get recognized for their
efforts. Think about the kid who is a “C”
student, who is never called “the best and the brightest” but who brings back
his elderly neighbor’s trashcan every week.
Or, the kid who didn’t make the high school baseball team but helps
coach the little kids T-ball team. We
need to seek these kids out and tell them they are doing a good job.
Likewise
for the ladies who bake pies for the church dinners, and the old guys who mow
the church lawn. They are always
available to do something for the church, but how often do we stop and tell
them how much we appreciate their work?
I,
for one, am going to pray that God will open my eyes to see all the people whom
I can thank for their help.
