How Much Does God Love Us?

“Are not five sparrows sold for two cents?  Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.  Indeed the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”  Luke 12:6-7

God loves us.  We are the apple of His eye.  All through the scriptures God again and again speaks of His love for us.  So valuable are we that He has numbered the hairs on our heads.

How much does God love us?  God loves every inch of us.

God's Promises Are True

“In this same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Hebrews 6:17-20

The hope set before us is that we too shall not sleep, but shall rise to meet God in heaven.  God fulfilled His promise to make a way for all people when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die once and for all sinful men and women.  This being done, all that is left to us is to receive this great gift of salvation and acknowledge Jesus as our Lord, Master and Savior.

God’s promises are true.

Call On God, He Is Near

“Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.”
Isaiah 55:6-7

It is never the wrong time to come to God.  As long as we have life in our bodies, we can come.  It does not matter what our sins are or if we are rich or poor or if we are bad or think we are good, God is waiting for us to turn to Him.

God is the court of final appeal and He will pardon us.

Come to God and be forgiven.  Begin a new life.

Be Strong

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”  2 Timothy 2:1

We all become tired and worn out.  Life can wear us down to a point where we think that we are beyond hope.   The Apostle Paul reminds us that we are under God’s grace and that grace makes us strong through Jesus.

We need not struggle with our burdens; we need only to turn them over to God.  Then we can be revived by the grace of God.

Take It Into Account

“So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.  Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an obstacle or stumbling block in a brother’s way.”  Romans 14:12-13

In the early church people practiced many different social customs which people from different groups did not understand.   The Apostle Paul cautioned Christians not to let these differences in customs interfere with accepting new believers into the church because trying to force changes in customs might cause new Christians to turn away from the Church.

Paul said each individual would answer to God regarding their behavior and therefore, the Church did not need to busy itself with creating rules which would only serve to alienate people against the Church.

We can take this to heart today.  There are social customs like tattoos and body piercing which can create a barrier between mainline Christians and lost sheep that are searching for Jesus.  Our first priority is to tell people about Jesus and welcome them into the Church.  Anything more, we need not worry about, because God is the ultimate judge.

For what it is worth, I don’t think tattoos and body piercings will be much of an issue for God.

Fear Not

“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?”
Psalm 28:1

God is with us no matter what happens.  In good times and in bad times, He is always there with us.

And, for this we are thankful.
