“Now
suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him
a snake instead of a fish, will he?”
Or
if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion will he?”
“If
you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” Luke 11:11-13
When I was a child, my Dad would take me for a ride to the gas
station. His purpose for the trip was to
get gas for the car, but my purpose in riding along was to get a treat. Whatever I asked for, be it a bottle of pop
or a candy bar or gum, Dad bought it for me because he wanted to do it for me. That’s the way it is with God; He wants to do
things for us.
Jesus
wanted people to know that God is good.
God is our heavenly Father and like earthly fathers He wants to give us
that which we need and that which will bless us.
The
Holy Spirit is God’s comforter. When the
Holy Spirit comes into our lives He brings comfort, wisdom and the power to
overcome victoriously whatever comes our way.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of the Holy Spirit is that He infuses
believers with boldness to witness to others about salvation through
Jesus.
Ask
God for the Holy Spirit and prepare to have your life super charged.
