Now
the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all those things and
were scoffing at Him. And He said to
them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows
your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the
sight of God.” Luke 16:14-15
Jesus
does not hate wealthy people. Jesus
hates sin. When Jesus confronted the
Pharisees, He wanted to put them on notice that just because people believed
their explanations for their detestable deeds, did not mean that God would do
so also.
God
does not look at the exterior circumstances, God looks at the hearts of men and
women. He knows we all sin and He is
more than willing to forgive us, if we don’t cover up but own up to our sins.
All
we have to do is to ask Jesus to be our Lord, Master and Savior, and repent of
our sin, and we are forgiven.
