The Immutability of God

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, which whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

James 1:17

Immutability is a fancy word for unchangeable.

Immutability does not mean that God is immobile.   God is always at work in the world and in our lives.  His constant interference in man’s dealings is with man’s best interests in mind.  We cannot escape His meddling.  For believers this a great comfort.  For unbelievers this is uncomfortable because even as they make plans for evil, God is tampering with them to bring them to a place where they recognize their evil nature and turn away from it and to Him. 

God never changes.  His promises are true.  He loves us and desires what is best for us.
