Now
we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and
not just please ourselves. Each of us is
to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.
For
even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of
those who reproached You fell on Me.”
Romans
15:1-3
Does
this mean we are to be people pleasers?
Are we to bend over backwards to make everyone happy? No.
What
this means is that we are to go out of our way to help those who are struggling
spiritually. New Christians and even
mature Christians face crises of faith.
When this happens we are called to be there to counsel, comfort and
encourage.
We
are not in this for ourselves. We are in
this to make the world a better place by bringing the Gospel to life by helping people who are struggling.
