And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him. Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”
Mark
11:22-24
One
of the push backs Christians receive from other Christians is that of what we
should pray. One group thinks we should
never pray for anything for ourselves except forgiveness of our sins because if
we do we are being selfish. The other
group believes that we should pray for anything that we want to pray for and
see what happens.
I
am inclined to believe that God is interested in everything that concerns
us. He can heal the sick and He can help
us achieve the desires of our hearts, be that a house of our own or a car or a telephone. He is concerned for our welfare and the
welfare of those we love and care about, and He is concerned that people’s
physical needs are met.
Therefore,
pray as your heart directs you and let your prayers float up to heaven, and do
not be surprised if while you are praying for one thing that you are burdened
to also pray for something or someone that is not on your agenda because prayer
begets prayer.
The
more we pray the broader and greater our faith grows so that we find ourselves
praying as we walk, drive, wash dishes and go about our daily tasks.
Have
faith. God’s ears are always open to our
prayers.
