Even
so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ
Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in
your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the
members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present
yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments
of righteousness to God.
Romans
6:11-13
Even
after we ask Jesus to be our Lord, Master and Savior, we may continue to be
tangled in sin. Sometimes the sin is
complicated by relationships we have created before we became Christians. Or, it might be that we think that it will be
too hard to change what we are doing.
In
either case, God wants us to be righteous and turn from our sin. This being said, we can sometimes fix what we
are doing – like by marrying the person with whom we have established a family. Other times it may seem painful to give up the
sin which we have grown accustom to. In
either case, our lives will be better when we turn fully to God, the One who
loves us, and wants to bless us.
We
can only begin to truly enjoy all the benefits of knowing Jesus, when we give
our lives completely to Him.
