The Gospel Of Compassion

Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into this harvest.”

Matthew 9:35-38

There is the Gospel of prosperity that some preach, however, that is not the Gospel of Jesus. He did not seek the rich, the well off, and the powerful. Jesus looked for the poor, the sick, and the sad, and ministered to them.

We can do the same, by supporting ministries that work with the poor and by saying kind words to those who are broken.

It is the Gospel of Compassion.
