“But
many who are first will be last; and the last first.”
Matthew
19:30
This
is one of those Bible principles that if we diligently apply it to our everyday
life will save us a world of aggravation.
We
are by nature impatient. We are in a
hurry. We want what we want and we want
it now. I am not just talking about a
big car or a big house or the latest video game. I am talking about having to sit and wait
while the traffic light turns green or while somebody makes a left turn. I am talking about when we are ready to go,
and the kids aren’t. Did you ever try to
hurry up a four year old child? It’s not
going to happen.
What
if we all adopt an attitude of that it’s OK if we are last? If we decide that we don’t care if we have to
wait a few minutes or a few years, think how much more peaceful our lives will
be, and think how much more pleasant it will be for those who are around
us.
A
willingness to graciously be last could revolutionize our lives.
