“Submit
yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as
one in authority or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evil
doers and the praise of those who do right.
For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the
ignorance of foolish men.” 1 Peter 2:13-15
Everybody
hates a speed trap. We are just cruising
along and then we hear a siren and see flashing lights. And, even though we are wrong, we are
mad. Then we meet the policeman and if
we are lucky, we get a warning; if we are not lucky, we get a ticket.
How
do we respond to this? Peter says we are
to submit ourselves to every human institution, which means our best response is
to say, “Thank you officer.” and, then pay the ticket without complaining.
And,
remember where that speed trap is at, and slow down.
