“We
encourage you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help
the weak, be patient with everyone. See
that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which
is good for one another and for all people.”
1
Thessalonians 5:14-15.
If
there are any people that can drive a Christian crazy, these are the ones: they freely violate the rules of God and man
or their personal lives are a wreck or they are spiritual ninety-eight pound
weaklings.
As
much as we want to run away from these folks, we are instructed to be patient
with them and, even if they are mean to us, we are to do what is good for
them. This means we need to listen to
them, pray for them, or maybe drive them to see their probation officers.
Is
this a recipe for frustration, or what?
It is an “or what.” When we seek
what is good for all people that includes us, and we too will find what is good.
Try
it and see.
