Then
Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the
Lord before the new court, and he said, “O Lord, the God of our fathers, are
You not God in the heavens? And are you
not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations?
Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against you….”
“O
our God, will You not judge them: For we
are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us, nor do we
know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
2
Chronicles 20:5-6, 12
What
do we do when we don’t know what to do?
What do we do when things are out of our control?
There
are those who believe that there is always something that we can do. This is true, but the question is: Will what we do change anything or is it a
temporary fix in which case the whole ugly mess will return again and again?
We
need to recognize when it is time for us to stop trying to fix things and to
turn things over to God. When there is
nothing we can do, it is time.
We
can find comfort and peace in the prayer of Jehoshaphat. When we turn things over to God, He takes
care it all. And, He takes care of us.
Trust
God.
