The Law is the Law, Grace is Grace

For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

John 1:17

The Laws of God are many.  We think of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3-17) as being the gold standard of God’s Laws; however, these are only the top ten.  The whole book of Leviticus is the Law and numerous directives from God are sprinkled throughout the Old Testament.  There are so many Laws that it is impossible for man to not disobey some of them.  We are all guilty under the Law and in God’s sight sinners.  Sin separates us from God.  We are guilty and deserve to be punished.

But, what did God do?  He gave us grace.  God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for all of us.  Jesus came and died and rose from the grave triumphant over sin.  Grace is the free gift from God.  All we have to do is to invite Jesus to be our Lord, Master and Savior and we are redeemed and restored to our proper place as sons and daughters of God.

The law says we are guilty.  Grace says we are forgiven.
